Bomb Alley - The Battle of San Carlos Bay * Check Your 6 -- Jet Age
B-Minis-3 * $ 2
Game Master: Andy Roy & Chris Nichols * 7 Players * Teen14
On May 21st 1982, the British launched Operation Sutton, the landings at San Carlos on East Falkland. The British goal was to put ashore a large enough force to recapture the Falkland Islands from Argentina.

The Argentine response was swift. Wave after wave of attack aircraft from the Argentine mainland swept into San Carlos regularly over the next six days, bombing and strafing the British surface fleet and landing craft. Flying at sea level and 450+ knots, the pilots of the Fuerza Aérea Argentina and Comando de Aviación Naval Argentina struck the British fleet, in an almost suicidal display of piloting skill and courage.

In addition to braving AAA fire and SAMs from the surface vessels, the Argentines were frequently challenged by the British NAS Squadrons 800 and 801, flying the deadly Sea Harrier. Any hope for the successful landing rested in the Royal Navy's ability to halt the marauding Argentine aircraft.

Join us for a large game of Check Your 6 Jet Age, in which pilots of the Fuerza Aérea Argentina (FAA) and Comando de Aviación Naval Argentina (COAN) attempt to disrupt the British landings at San Carlos Bay. Opposing them shall be NAS Harriers and several capital ships of the British fleet.

Painted & detailed 1/300 scale aircraft, 3-D terrain, pencils, dice, clipboards, quick reference charts, and aircraft record sheets will all be provided. Game experience will be extremely helpful, but not entirely necessary. The game's complex rules and mechanics will be taught. We ask that players be age 14+ please.

This game has been sponsored by Fights On!, makers of fine wargaming accessories.

Conflict of Heroes WW2
C-Board-13 * $ 2
Game Master: Doug Riggi * 4 Players * Teen14
Conflict of Heroes is an excellent, relatively new WW2 squad-level board game. It has a lot of the ‘feel’ of Squad Leader, but the all the rules currently published fit on only 24 pages. It has won multiple Origins awards for “Best New Game”, and it’s earned quite a following among some of us SWA guys.

This is your chance to give the game a try. We have custom designed scenario that has both infantry and armor, and it’s quick to learn and play.

Please note this event is being run in all three slots on Saturday: 9am, 2pm & 7pm. You’ve got three chances to try this excellent game. Beginners encouraged.

Dawn of 13 October, 1812, American troops, Regular and NYS Militia, crossed the Niagara River to invade a peaceful neighbour. An all day battle saw victory change hands three times. The American Field Commander was wounded four times, and retired, an invalid, to his home in Albany, NY. The hero of the American action, was a Troy, NY bookseller, who won glory and a musket ball in his buttocks, rewarded for his bravery and tactical skill. The senior American commander in remaining in Canada, also wounded in this his first action, suffered the ignominy of surrendering an American army to the British. But Winfield Scott later went on to become the senior General of the United States Army.

Can you help bring about a better ending for these "Yankys?" Beginners encouraged.

Close Action - Spanish Treasure! * Close Action
D-Minis-5 * $ 2
Game Master: Dan Bostwick * 8 Players * E10
Close Action is a tactical simulation of naval combat in the Age Of Fighting Sail, using realistic movement, combat, and limited communications rules.

The Battle of Cape Santa Maria (also known as the Battle of Cape St Mary; in Spanish Batalla del Cabo de Santa Maria) was a naval action that took place off the southern Portuguese coast on 5 October 1804. A British squadron under the command of Commodore Graham Moore attacked a Spanish squadron commanded by Brigadier Don Jose de Bustamante y Guerra, in time of peace, without declaration of war between the UK and Spain. Legally an act of piracy, this action was taken because the British government was convinced that the Spanish would declare war as soon as the fleet - which was carrying the annual treasure from the New World - was safe.

This famous action has been written about in the C.S. Forester's Horatio Hornblower and in Patrick O'Brien's Aubrey Maturin books. Join this august company, and come fight it out for yourself!

Note that we will be playing an action between two squadrons of late model Frigates. I expect this will be fast and bloody; this is a one-slot event. Beginners encouraged.

Sunday Afternoon  3:00 PM - 7:00 PM  (Slot G)

First Class Ticket * Modified Fist Full of Lead
G-Minis-1 * $ 2
Game Master: Mike Paine * 8 Players * E10
Your mission is simple. You are the ground commander and will support Captain Collins in the Yorktown. Chinese bandits have closed the Yangtze by blocking all large vessel river traffic at Tianxing Island. Additionally, they destroyed the US Mission at China Light. Over 50 Americans were massacred including 8 French engineers building a new dock under contract to the Navy. Your command has been reinforced by the 4th US Marines. You will advance up the Old Imperial Highway with part of your command while the rest will ride in fast river barges escorted by the Yorktown. That's all we can spare.

Your rules of engagement have not changed. You are to restore the peace and rescue American citizens who are being held for ransom by Chinese Warlord bandits. If attacked, make them pay. Recapture the mission and hold until relieved. Conflict with the Chinese, when not absolutely necessary for fulfilling your mission, is to be avoided.

By the way, “First Class Ticket” is Chinese bandit talk for a foreign victim, who by default had to be worth a good ransom. Beginners encouraged.
