Train & Rail Games at Council of Five Nations

Council of Five Nations XXXVII

October 10-12, 2014

Special Event Track

Train & Rail Games

Rail games are a very popular genre.  We don’t have enough for a full Puffing Billy tournament this year, but we’re looking to build toward that.

Saturday Morning  9:00 AM - 1:00 PM  (Slot D)

Russian Railroad
D-Board-10 * $ 2
Game Master: Kim Morgan * 4 Players * E10
"In Russian Railroads, players compete in an exciting race to build the largest and most advanced railway network. In order to do so, the players appoint their workers to various important tasks. The development of simple tracks will quickly bring the players to important places, while the modernization of their railway network will improve the efficiency of their machinery. Newer locomotives cover greater distances and factories churn out improved technology. Engineers, when used effectively, can be the extra boost that an empire needs to race past the competition. There are many paths to victory: Who will ride into the future full steam ahead and who will be run off the rails? Whose empire will overcome the challenges ahead and emerge victorious? " Beginners encouraged.

Saturday Evening  7:00 PM - 11:00+ PM  (Slot F)

Santa Fe Rails
F-Board-16 * $ 2
Game Master: Bob Wicks * 5 Players * E10
Be a western rail and real estate baron. In this game about the westward expansion of the railroads, players steer the development of five major railroads and four short lines so as to enhance the values of the cities they control while earning bonuses for completion of connections. Beginners encouraged.

Sunday Morning  9:00 AM - 1:00 PM  (Slot G)

Ticket to Ride
G-Board-13 * $ 2
Game Master: Shelley Stuart * 5 Players * E10
"Players collect cards of various types of train cars they then use to claim railway routes in North America. The longer the routes, the more points they earn. Additional points come to those who fulfill Destination Tickets – goal cards that connect distant cities; and to the player who builds the longest continuous route. If the game ends early, TTR: Marklin or Europe will be available for a second round of gaming." Beginners encouraged.
