Star Fleet Battles Tournament: The Council Cup * Star Fleet Battles
SFB * $ 5
Game Master: David Cheng * 42 Players
Star Fleet Battles is an intricate game of ship-to-ship combat in the classic Star Trek universe (the one Kirk explored). Several other races have been added for variety. Tournament battles are like tense chess matches, with each player trying to bring his ship’s strengths to bear. Last year’s tournament was once again the largest in the whole country, and we expect record attendance this year. We’re going to start the con early, 10am on Friday, to get the Star Fleet stuff going. Fight patrol battles all weekend, until we start the finals either Saturday evening or night, depending up on enrollment. If you change your ship mid-tournament, you need to pay a new $5 to re-enter. Semi-finals and Finals will be Sunday. To make it easier for you to try the game if you're interested, look in your on-site registration packet for a coupon to play the first game free. If you'd like to continue in the tournament, you can pay to enter. But if you'd just like to learn a new game, it's on us. Beginners encouraged.

Game Master: David Bostwick * 8 Players

To achieve victory (and the Admiral’s stripes) you will need to be successful in all these missions and out perform your fellow officers. This event will use the Axis & Allies: War at Sea rules with extensive house rules. Including: a larger map, hex based movement, firing arcs, hidden movement for submarines, size class based movement, and aircraft with limited fuel. [BOLD] This is a 2 session event, with the winning players playing a total of 4 scenarios. In the first session up to 8 players will be defending and raiding convoys in 2 scenarios. Power Grid
A-Board-2 * $ 2
Game Master: Ralph Mabb * 6 Players
The object of Power Grid is to supply the most cities with power when someone's network gains a predetermined size. In this new edition, players mark pre-existing routes between cities for connection, and then bid against each other to purchase the power plants that they use to power their cities. However, as plants are purchased, newer, more efficient plants become available, so by merely purchasing, you're potentially allowing others access to superior equipment. Additionally, players must acquire the raw materials (coal, oil, garbage, and uranium) needed to power said plants (except for the 'renewable' windfarm/ solar plants, which require no fuel), making it a constant struggle to upgrade your plants for maximum efficiency while still retaining enough wealth to quickly expand your network to get the cheapest routes. Beginners encouraged.

Titan
B-Board-3 * $ 2
Game Master: Gregory Croff * 6 Players
This classic game of the Fantasy Monster Slugathon is a standby from the Avalon Hill of yor. The game is divided into two realms, the masterboard and the battleboards. On the masterboard, legions of mythical creatures roam about trying to recruit bigger and badder monsters and kill opposing legions in the process. When a combat occurs, the space is “blown-up” by moving the action to the corresponding battleboard type. After lots of dice are tossed, the victor is returned to the masterboard with the spoils of war: points. The Titan is the player’s alter-ego, and the Titan’s fate and the player’s fate are one and the same. Veterans and new players welcome. Beginners encouraged.

Diplomacy * Diplomacy (50th Anniversary Edition)
B-Board-5 * $ 2
Game Master: Stephen Kent * 7 Players
In the game, players represent one of the seven "Great Powers of Europe" (England, France, Austria, Germany, Italy, Russia or Turkey) in the years prior to World War I. Play begins in the Spring of 1901, and players make both Spring and Fall moves each year. There are only two kinds of military units: armies and fleets. On any given turn, each of your military units has limited options: They can move into an adjoining territory, support an allied unit in an attack on an adjoining territory, support an allied unit in defending an adjoining territory, or hold their position. Players instruct each of their units by writing a set of "orders." The outcome of each turn is determined by the rules of the game. There are no dice rolls or other elements of chance. With its incredibly simplistic movement mechanics fused to a significant negotiation element, this system is highly respected by many a gamer. Beginners encouraged.

The Hauptmann HA1-OBX combines the rugged chassis of a Lyran Hauptmann with the devastating effectiveness of the Federated Suns' rotary autocannon concept. This prototype 'mech is due to be delivered to the Davion Heavy Guard two days from now, and the DHG are en route to make the pick up. The 'mech is currently being held at the R&D facility on the outskirts of Galax's largest city, Tymor. Knowing that such a 'mech would be devastating to their forces, House Kurita has dispatched the prestigious Apocalypse Legion mercenary group to Galax to destroy the 'mech before the prototype can reach the DHG for field testing. Galax is a very small, out-of-the-way planet; thus, the mercenaries felt that only a small attacking force was necessary. This small force, it was hoped, would quickly assault the facility, locate and destroy the Hauptmann prototype, and escape before any formidable DHG reinforcements could arrive. The only thing standing between the mercenaries and the successful completion of the mission is a group of armored militia from the Davion 3rd Cavalry. The militia managed to reach the city before the mercenary attack force, and are lying in wait for the attackers to appear. The militia units cannot expect any reinforcements, so it is up to them to stop the attackers. If the Hauptmann prototype is destroyed, it will set back the Federated Commonwealth's war effort against House Kurita. Join us for a large Battletech game in which the Apocalypse Legion mercenary group assaults a FedCom Research & Development facility defended by numerous elements of the Davion 3rd Cavalry. Painted battle mechs and tanks, spectacular 3D terrain, pencils, dice, clipboards, mission briefings, and Battletech record sheets will all be provided. Game experience will be extremely helpful, but not necessary. This game will utilize miniatures rules published in FASA's Battletech Master Rules Revised Edition, and a number of customized battle mechs created using WizKids' Heavy Metal Pro software. Some knowledge of this rules system preferred.

Giant Kill Dr. Lucky
C-Giant-2 * $ 0
Game Master: Foam Brain Games * 8 Players
Foam Brain Games will be running giant, life-size versions of popular board games in the Saturday morning (C) and Saturday afternoon (D) slots. The second is Giant Kill Dr. Lucky - Many people are familiar with Clue, the American board game by Hasboro in which someone has been murdered, and players attempt to figure out whodunnit. (Alright, we acknowledge it's based off of Cluedo by Waddingtons Gaming from Leeds, UK, but that's minutia...) Kill Dr. Lucky, however, is sort of a prequel to Clue; players are in a mansion trying to kill its owner, Dr. Lucky. Pick a reason: maybe he stole the inheritance from your auntie, toilet-papered your house, or ran off with your girlfriend. Enjoy walking around in stocking feet on our extra-large floor plan of the mansion, trying to be alone in a room with your host. Naturally, Dr. Lucky is very good at getting out of the way of danger, but maybe you can be the one to kill him in the drawing room with the lead pipe. Good luck! PLEASE NOTE: This game will run from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Saturday.

Dominion
E-Board-6 * $ 2
Game Master: Rob Nydam * 6 Players - Kid Friendly
In Dominion, each player starts with an identical, very small deck of cards. In the center of the table is a selection of other cards the players can "buy" as they can afford them. Through their selection of cards to buy, and how they play their hands as they draw them, the players construct their deck on the fly, striving for the most efficient path to the precious victory points by game end. From the back of the box: "You are a monarch, like your parents before you, a ruler of a small pleasant kingdom of rivers and evergreens. Unlike your parents, however, you have hopes and dreams! You want a bigger and more pleasant kingdom, with more rivers and a wider variety of trees. You want a Dominion! In all directions lie fiefs, freeholds, and feodums. All are small bits of land, controlled by petty lords and verging on anarchy. You will bring civilization to these people, uniting them under your banner." "But wait! It must be something in the air; several other monarchs have had the exact same idea. You must race to get as much of the unclaimed land as possible, fending them off along the way. To do this you will hire minions, construct buildings, spruce up your castle, and fill the coffers of your treasury. Your parents wouldn't be proud, but your grandparents would be delighted." We can play with both the base game and/or the "Intrigue" expansion to accommodate up to six players! Beginners encouraged.

Titan
E-Board-8 * $ 2

Republican Royal Joust - As the culmination of the 25th Battletech Anniversary Council Festivities, we will be holding a very special event, the First Annual Council Knights of the Republic Tournament. While not every Knight of the Republic is necessarily a champion of the battlefield, our distinguished Paladins, which are drawn from their ranks, will always be christened by fire. Due to the long standing peace in the Republic, one of the few opportunities for such displays of martial skill was during the yearly Knights Round Table Tournament, where Republic Knights could display their skills with the few Battlemechs that remained in regular use. With the damage to the HPG net, as a showing of solitude and support in these trying times, the Exarch has magnanimously agreed to broadcast the competition, so as to foster greater confidence in the continuation of Stone’s Dream. So come out for what promises to be a grand competition, and earn the rank of Grand Knight of the Tournament. The Joust will be held in a series of one on one battles, single or double elimination, depending on the number of registered players. Please bring four Battlemech Record Sheets, one for each weight class. Piloting and Gunnery Skills will be decided by the Tournament Director. NOTE: This is a two-slot event. It will run into the “G” afternoon slot. Please bring four Battlemech Record Sheets, one for each weight class. Beginners encouraged.

Tribune: Primus Inter Pares * Tribune
G-Board-6 * $ 2
Game Master: Steve Bachman * 5 Players
Rome was the most complex metropolis of the ancient world. The inhabitants of Rome were quite different - from Gladiators and Legates to Patricians and Senators - but they were all Romans. Many prominent and ambitious families of Rome used these groups as pawns in their thirst for power - gaining military allegiance through the Praetorian Guard, public support with the Plebians, and favor of the gods through the Vestal Virgins. Successful families were able to use this power to propel themselves into some of the highest offices in the Republic, including that of tribune. In Tribune, players represent the prominent families of ancient Rome and their goal is to meet the minimum number of victory conditions and have the most points to win. To achieve this goal, players must take control of the various factions in Rome and take advantage of the benefits they offer. With the other players also trying to seize control, control of any given faction will often be fleeting so taking advantage of a faction when it is most useful for your plans is crucial. At it's root, Tribune is a set-collecting and worker-placement game, but also includes a bidding mechanic and flexible victory conditions. The rules are available online at the publisher's website (Fantasy Flight Games) and Board Game Geek. Beginners encouraged.
