April 11 Game-a-thon

()

We realize that it's a very short turnaround time, but we are looking for people to run games for the April 11 game-a-thon!

If you are wondering what to run, we have requests for Diplomacy and Shadows over Camelot.

You can sign up to run a game using this form:
http://www.swa-gaming.org/gameathoneventregistration

Or, you can request a game to be run here:
http://www.swa-gaming.org/gameathonsuggestion

Or post here in this thread.

Please sign up by March 28th or earlier. That way we can get the word out in plenty of time for the Thon.

Thanks

**UPDATED** April Thon Schedule

The April schedule has a couple of changes to it. There was a game cancelled, and a game added on. The posted schedule has been updated.

do GMs play in their own event?

Hey there. Just a quick question... I'm kicking around the idea of GMing Dominion for this game-a-thon (I realize I've only been to one game-a-thon so far, but as of right now, it looks like I might be able to make this one).

Dominion is for 2-4 players. If the event only gets 3 to sign up, can the GM sit in their own game, or is that considered bad form?

Thanks,
Deric

Are you going to run Dominion in April?

Deric,

I am basicly done with the schedule for April. So if you want to run Dominion you need to confirm it ASAP. That way it will make it into the email announcement, the web page and flyer.

Thanks Nick.

Yes, GM's can play

NO, it is not considered bad form for GMs to play.

You can even reserve a spot for yourself if you'd like.

Evening game for April 11th

I will run AH's Republic of Rome in the evening session, 4-6 players.

I'll work on a write up for it tonight or tomorrow and send it over to Nick.

RoR description

Republic of Rome is a game that captures the feel of intrigue and power politics in the Roman Senate during the more than 250 years of the Republic. Each player controls a faction, comprised of members from the leading Senatorial families, attempting to increase their strength and influence to the point where it dominates the government. Opposing these self-serving goals are the needs of the State and external threats against it, represented by the game itself. The players and their factions must cooperate as needed to properly prosecute the many wars against Rome's hostile neighbors, as well as see to the contentment of the populace. Failure to do so will bring about the fall of Rome and the end of the Republic, and a loss for all players.

Will defending your principles keep you out of the loop of power? Will a lack of conscience bring about the fall of Rome? Can you walk that fine line to victory while keeping the other factions from doing the same?

We will be using the Living Rules v2.16 available at the BoardGameGeek link above. The scenario played – Early, Middle, or Late Republic – will be determined by the GM based on the experience levels and preferences of the players in the game. Like Diplomacy, Republic of Rome is often cutthroat and frequently includes backstabs and double-crosses - players are asked to leave their personal relations at the door to avoid damaging any real world relationships.

Hey, it wasn't me who set the Thon schedule for the year! Jawdropping!

Game for April Thon

I'll run Through the Ages in the afternoon slot, 2-4 people. Bill: if you have a copy and don't mind, maybe bring it along in case we get enough people for 2 games?
