Highlight of Special Event Tracks at Council XXXII

Council of Five Nations is one of the longest-running Adventure Gaming conventions in the world; we’ve been around since 1976! We strive for Council to be a good, fun, “traditional” gaming convention. Our goal is to have a nice balance between role-playing, board games and miniatures. 

Many of our events have a common theme, or track - one or more of these ought to appeal to just about any Council attendee.

The event tracks detailed below are:

Kid Friendly Games – We are offering a series of games where younger players are encouraged to attend. If this frees up mom or dad to play in another game, great! We’re asking that you exercise proper parental judgment as to whether your kid is old/mature enough to be participating without your supervision. This is not intended to be Day Care.  That being said, here is the list of Kid Friendly games:


Board Game Geek Top 25 – We’ve gone out of our way to recruit GMs for the most popular games.  The Board Game Geek ranking is one good way for us to gauge that, and we’re well represented.  BGG favorites all weekend long!  And this year’s two breakout hits, Dominion and Through the Ages, are being run multiple times so you’ve got multiple opportunities to try them out.


Star Fleet Battles – We will be running a Star Fleet Battles tournament all weekend.  We’re even opening the doors early to make sure SFB players have the time to get in as many games as possible.  Registration for this tournament is $5.  Last year we had the largest SFB tournament in the country, bigger than even the National Championships at Origins. Early indications are that our tournament will be even bigger this year.  If you’re interested in giving this challenging game a try, please look in your registration packet for a coupon, redeemable for a free game.


Historical Miniatures – Our convention co-sponsor, Two Tin Soldiers, has helped us to offer an excellent selection of historical miniatures events throughout the convention.  Periods represented: World War II, American War of Independence, Napoleonic, Age of Sail, American Civil War, Zulu vs Colonials, Ancients, World War I and Modern-Iraq Conflict.


Warrior: Ancients Tournament – Ewan McNay will be running this three-round tournament all day on Saturday the 10th.  We expect players from all around the Northeast.  See the Saturday 9am event description for details.


RPGA Dungeons & Dragons – Jonathan Choy, our RPGA Czar, has lined up a great weekend of RPGA D&D.  We are happy to offer eighteen different sanctioned events, including five that will debut at Council of Five Nations.  Please click on the link for the special RPGA page on the web site.  Important:  If you are registering for an RPGA game, please also go to the Council page on Warhorn.net to pick the specific scenario you'd like.  That will help us allocate GMs to serve everyone the best.


Classic Battletech – We know there’s a strong Battletech community throughout the Northeast, and we’re happy to offer a track of events that will keep them entertained all weekend long.


Avalon Hill Classics – Some of us old-timers remember a time when these games dominated convention schedules.  Council has a full schedule for you too.  Some of these games might be the newer reprints, but we’ll always remember them as Avalon Hill classics.


RPG Variety – Dungeons & Dragons is the beloved granddaddy of a whole gaming genre, but there are hundreds of other great RPGs out there. We’re happy to have a wide offering of non-D&D RPGs all weekend long.


Horror – If you’re a fan of things that go bump in the night, we’ve got a whole weekend of ghoulish games to entertain you.


Science Fiction – Another popular genre.  If you want to play nothing but science fiction offerings all weekend, we’ve got you covered.


As you can see, we've got more than a little something for every gaming taste.
