Afrika Korps

()

For those who didn't already know, I have a full Kampfgruppe (on 1-1) scale of German microarmor.

It is mostly early stuff - latest being some PAK75s and PV-IVF2s.

I cataloged it and sent Tim an inventory, but roughly speaking its a full company+ of german tanks, company of italian tanks, easily a full recon battalion and transport for a full battalion+ of infantry complete with AA guns, ATGs, an 88 section, SP Inf gun platoon, 105hw battery and support/command vehicles. Oh yeah and 4 ME109s with 20mm underwing cannon for airsupport Eye-wink

Obviously this force needs some opponents Eye-wink but it is at Tims disposal for any north african campaign.

PLAY PLAY PLAY!!!

I m in eather side and please not on Mondays Sad

Re: Afrika Korps

i am interested. i want to play colonial british.

starting date

This is close enough to being ready that I suppose finding a starting date would be a good idea.

Who all is interested in playing and when do we want to do this?

Tims place

sorry I ve never been to Tims place, but I am very interested in playing your game it sounds good so far.
I know a Tim that I have not seen for years, sence i closed down RuneSmith games. but it seems I don t know anyone in the SWA any more and its been some time sence i ve played at the studio.
please keep me in mind as a player and I would need an address on were it is to be played..or any other games that players are needed for..

The answers to all questions

This will be run primarily at Tims place in schenectady (rotterdam!). I will be running it - projected start date is sometime in early July as I need to work with TIm on the rules and such.

Game intent: the long term players will each have "leader" which they are directly playing. Similar to the old squad leader campaign rules for those familiar with the concept. "Leaders" will have some stats/attributes/skills which may be increased through experience and heroism. The "Leaders" will be officers in the British army in north africa. The size of their command will vary based on interest/how many wish to play, but will not be smaller than a platoon. Unit scale will be 1-1, one gun or tank represents one tank - one stand = 1 infantry section or mg team.

Game background: The game will be set sometime in an "alternate" late-1940/1941 period. (To be more defined later, but basically the technologies, troop quality and capabilities will be historical. The area of opeations will be historical, the exact setup, total forces and progress of the war may be vastly different. IE maybe Franco joined the Axis and took Gibraltar..the Italians air-assaulted Malta etc..who knows) All this will be worked out in detail after I have the rules done.....

Re: Afrika Korps

Puzzled: just some small questions is, were, and when a game going to be played Puzzled:

and can I play to?

Re: Afrika Korps

I think you read too much sarcasm in my question. I assumed there was a good reason for you not making the game, perhaps you can tell me when I see you next. The question was not so much to be rude or cause any unpleasantries, it was just making sure there was a good reason you left. I don't know you super well so I asked a question directly to you. Perhaps a private message was a better choice than the open forum but I think it is better than most would have done, being many people would have just talked about you behind your back. Again, sorry for the precieved sarcasm.

Re: Afrika Korps

Yes there was a reason for me resigning that had nothing to do with the outcome of the game - I'm sure if you thought about it for a bit it would come to you. (Or ask tim or me in a private message)

You also should really consider that questions like that are best saved for private messages, email or personal conversations. Posting them in a public forum is an open invitation to start a truely unpleasant thread of discussion, to say nothing of being vaguely rude.

To answer your specific question, it looks like I may end up running this thing (unless Tim changes his mind and decides to leap on it) in which case it would end up being run at my place (or Tims) at the whims of my schedule.

Re: Afrika Korps

Eric, you never really answered my question. Could you commit to a certain night each week to play this game? It was kind of crappy that all the Spanish command (except Carl) quit after the 1st episode. Maybe there is a good reason for you not attending, but if it was that you didn't have fun cause you lost then I would reconsider playing in this game with you.

ummsorry

First Iwant to appologize for any posts I made last night (I was a we bit drunk when made them). If I were in Albany I would definitly play in Afrika Corps. It was a very well done campaign the last time Tim ran it.

Re: Afrika Korps

I vant to play Afrika Korp. call Murph for scheduling.

Von Waldstein

Re: Afrika Korps

tim the answer to the questionj of who is very simple. you! it would not be the same without you running.

Re: Afrika Korps

WW2 Western Desert makes for a great campaign. I have a decent sized collection of Brits, Italians and Germans. I could probably find and reprint my old rules if anyone wanted to look them over. I would love to play in a campaign like this. Who would like to run it?

Re: Afrika Korps

The only problem is of course that I am morally committed to playing the germans Eye-wink

Re: Afrika Korps

id love to play a british campagin. i even have a name for a personality i want to play. waldstein- he is the son of a britsh aristocratic family. former calvalry officer he grew to hate the germans after they gassed his 2 brothers. one still lives enfeebled at his estate in england, he still carries a criket stick and his old sabre. he would be perfect to lead the infantry tanks. he would hang back and "support" the attack with long ranged accurate fire!

Re: Afrika Korps

I really want to do a North African Campaign, could you commit to Thursdays? Right now that is when we are playing at Tim's which is what I assume you meant when you addressed it more to him. I would be willing to play if you could commit to coming every week.

Re: Afrika Korps

mmmmm! ahhhhh! north african campagin! good idea!
