King Arthur Pendragon Campaign
King Arthur Pendragon is an excellent RPG portraying adventure and chivalry in the setting of King Arthur's Britain. In May 2003, Mike Haggett started a new campaign. Interested players are encouraged to contact him at mhaggett@nycap.rr.com Below is some material Mike wrote to introduce the game. I plan to cover the entire Pendragon cycle, starting from before Arthur is born and ending at the battle of Camlann, a total of 73 game years. You will likely go through 2 or 3 characters in this period; if you are successful, and lucky, some of these might be the descendants of your first character. The game will be starting in 490 AD, in the final years of the reign of High King Uther Pendragon. The starting area will be Huntington, which includes the modern city of Cambridge, a small town at the time. It is close to the Saxon lands on the eastern coast and much of the early campaign will likely involve skirmishing and fighting these invaders. The ruler of the area is Pwyll, Earl of Huntington. He is a vigorous lord, in his late 30s, and well respected by his peers and the Pendragon. He has two sons, Humbert (15) and Dafydd (10), and a daughter, Marilyn (8). He is married to the Lady Margaret. The players will begin as bachelor knights of the Earl's household, recently raised to knighthood. It is the Lord's custom to fill these positions with newly made knights, so that he can gauge their mettle. Earning his respect can lead to the bestowing of a manor, which the knight can use to support himself and any family he might have. The early campaign will likely be more war-filled than the latter, so skills related to war might be more useful than some of the more courtly- and tournament-oriented skills. If you need more information, please contact me (Mike Haggett) at mhaggett@nycap.rr.com or at 590-0251. For those interested in a read through of the rules, either the 3rd or 4th editions will get you up to speed on the systems being used. You will notice that the start date has been modified, which is where some changes will be most noticeable; I am using source books from the earlier Pendragon editions to fill in this gap. I hope to see you there!
