Campaign Backstory
The setting for our game is Triamore covenant, located in the Rhine Tribunal. It is 30 miles south of Namur on the Meuse River in modern Belgium. It is located on the north edge of the Ardennes forest. The starting year is 1220.
Triamore generally has good relations with the other covenants in the tribunal. It does have a reputation for being very close to mundane life; the covenant possesses a half-ruined castle called Lucien's Folly and has the grant of a manor direct from the Holy Roman Emperor, Frederick II. Triamore was able to argue that they do not owe feudal service to the Emperor and so can stay neutral in mortal affairs. Thus far, the quaesitors have agreed.
Triamore is a covenant that most of the tribunal would say is in its summer season....at least until recently. Two of Triamore's four magi died or passed into final twilight in the past 2 years. The covenant is looking to recruit more magi before the lack of magi slides the covenant into a premature winter. The remaining magi are Daria of House Tremere and Remi of House Jerbiton.
Triamore is very well known for the extent of its library, the result of imperial patronage. It is one of the largest libraries in the order, although many of its works are of a mundane nature. The covenant employs three full-time librarians, as well as a scribe/illuminator. The covenant has a very open policy regarding visiting scholars and even offers the services of its scribes to make copies of works. This is not done for free, of course, and sizable revenues are generated in this fashion.
Player magi notes: Magi that are willing to undertake external duties in dealing with the mundane are the most likely to be received with open arms. It is also possible to be a recently gauntletted apprentice of either Daria or Remi. Triamore is in rather a delicate situation at present with certain mundanes and they are unlikely to accept new members who will make that problem worse.
Companion Notes: Companions can replace current NPCs. There are 3 leadership positions among the grogs, 1 captain and 2 sergeants. An outdoorsman wouldn't be amiss; the covenant employs a forester to protect its rights.

Re: Campaign Backstory
I'd prefer characters no more than 2 years out of apprenticeship for Daria (Tremere) or Remy (Jerbiton); you could be a few years older if you went with one of the magi that slipped into twilight (Aline of Bonisagus or Cardrew Ex Miscellanea)
You could call Daria a skilled parens; she is over 50 years past her gauntlet. Her specialties are: Terram, Aurum, and Vim. She is the archetypal Tremere.
Remi is perhaps 15-20 years past gauntlet: His specialties are Animal, Herbam, Intellego, and Creo. He wanders alot and any apprentices are likely to be well-travelled and well-spoken with the Gentle gift.
Aline was well-rounded, but a laboratory rat. Oddly, any apprentices he had were often sent on errands, so they might have unusual skills for a Bonisagus.
Cardrew entered Final Twilight early, only 53. His main areas of interest were Rego, Corpus, and Mentem. His apprentices would likely be withdrawn and quietly ambitious.
