1221 - Windfall!

()

Spring of 1221 passed uneventfully as we prepared for the Tribunal in summer.

At tribunal, we met Darcy of Ex Miscellanea (Karen Seiz), and she impressed Daria and Remy enough to secure an invitation to Triamore.

Ghislaine made friends with a fellow Merinita from Bavaria, Brundilla. Their trade of vis secured their friendship, and secured us an inviation to an expedition she was preparing. Brundilla had heard of the reappearance of a faerie realm that had been lost for 88 years.

The women of the group continued to impress when Darcy's powerful Vim magic (lucky double 1's) helped us discover the regio entrance.

After avoiding conflict with the minor sprites and fantastic creatures that lived on the outskirts, we made our way deeper into the regio.

The faerie knights we encoutered next were impressed with the two Merinita women in our group, and we were invited to meet the Queen of Blue Skies. We were escorted to a huge party, one that would put the royalty of our mundane world to shame.

We thought we would never make it back home when Sir Guy got drunk (as is his custom) and insisted a faerie noblewoman be his escort for the night. However, this turned into a boon, when we learned that she welcomed his crude advances.

We lost Brundilla into the crowd as she left the celebration with other faerie folk with whom she had previous history.

Our group went with Sir Guy and his new love to her castle. We spent weeks of leisure, with the fay folk being gracious hosts. Two good grogs were killed hunting a fearsome faerie boar, but they died valiantly, and the rook of Vis claimed from it's tusks softened the loss.

Sir Guy fathered a child upon his consort, and he promised he would stay in the faerie realm until he saw his son come of age and be ready to be squired. We almost killed him when we learned that his oath bound us as well! We tried to break the faerie geas with our magic, but our spontaneous efforts were feeble.

We were surprised to learn that not only did the castle have a magical library, but we had access to several types of Vis. The Creator, in his benevolence, accellerated the timeline and let us plan fifteen(!) years of magical studies from these resources. Guillo de Guerre was particularly pleased to find a book on Faerie warfare tactics; he spent six seasons reading it cover-to-cover.

We feared the world would be different upon our return. But we were amazed to learn that we rentered the mundane realm on the Spring Equinox in 1122! Fifteen years of magical study and development at the cost of only three seasons of "real time"!

Daria and Remy had sent letters out to recruit new magi, fearing our demise, but we were happy to return and tell them that we were not ready to be written out of the charter of Triamore just yet.

Sir Guy also brought his son with him; wanting to be sure he grew up a "real man". It will be a challenge to find a knight willing to accept this strange youth as a squire (but that's not something we Magi care about).

We are now more prepared to face the challenges that we are sure the world will throw at us...
