Character Introductions

()

Silenus, filius Auctorius, of House Bonisagus

Here's what you learn and/or know about Silenus very early on...

* Born in Aquitaine. Apprenticed in Languedoc by Auctorius, an uncovented magus. Spent several years at the covenant of Corraish in the Normandy tribunal. Has recently left Corraish to join Thesaurus Terrae.

* He is Obese (the Mythology book says that it must be so...)

* He is rarely without a flagon of wine in his hand.

* He drinks only good wine, and eats only good food.

* If he starts drinking in a social setting, it is difficult to resist joining him.

* He travels in a large, well-stocked wagon. His servant and bodyguard take turns driving.

Lambert du Lauvar

LAMBERT Du LAUVAR

Lambert is a vigorous, stout man in his mid 40s. His appearance is typical for a french peasant, except he carries himself with pride and dignity.

Lambert was the Reeve of the town of Lauvar for several years. He is a good, honest man and he takes his responsibility seriously. He is a "father figure" for many of his villagers, and he guides them with a firm hand (Puissant Leadership). He has never resorted to violence to settle disputes, as his ability to convince others has always served him (Piercing Gaze).

The Lord of Lauvar is Raymond Roger, the Vicount of Beziers. He has been an open supporter of the Cathars.

Two years ago, the Pope sent Henry of Albano, Cardinal Bishop and former Abbot of Clairvaux, with a force of Italian soldiers to the area to suppress the heresy. Henry chose to raze the town of Lauvar to set an example to the other local nobles. Lambert has been leading the survivors for several weeks, looking for a new home.

Here are the eight "named" Lauvar refugees:

Miranda - Wife of Lambert. Early 40s. Her cooking talents are legendary. She is also a shrewd bargainer when people come to trade for her goods.

Fortaner - An old traveling merchant who retired to Lauvar, the village of his birth. He is well traveled, knows much about the people and places of Provence, and some about neighboring areas as well. Old age has cursed him with arthritis.

Dup - The stereotypical "big strong dumb guy". He can lift an ox over his head.

Margo the Hag - Not that old really; they call her that because of her Magical Air. She is a Wise Woman who can carve magical figurines which grant boons and curses.

Paula - Very attractive young woman, and daughter of Margo. She is surprisingly intelligent (+4), which helps her fend off the young men. Earns a living by making cheese.

Lucatz - A sneaky teenage boy. Notorious for peeking into the windows of the village, especially Paula's house. It is whispered that his great-grandmother might have been violated by a faerie Goblin.

Nicholas - A young man who burns for revenge against Henry of Albano. Would have grown up to be a simple farmer, but now wishes to become a warrior.

Filipot - A farmer and woodworker. A real "average Joe" kinda guy.

And, there are another 20-or-so nameless, faceless peasants under Lambert's charge.

Re: Character Introductions

Marcian of House Bonisagus
Age: Late 20s

Things we know:
-Best Arts: Corpus (by far), Creo, Mentem
-Passionate about Healing and in doing his best to keep the Order united

A kind face and demeanor sum up one's first impressions of Marcian. Of middling height with dark hair and brown eyes, he is a bit weedy on first glance, but possesses an infectious enthusiasm for his two passions, Medicine and the Unity of the Order. This is only reinforced when he speaks forcefully on these subjects.

Recently released from his apprenticeship, he looks forward to studying with his new sodales and impacting the status quo of the Provencal Tribunal in a positive way.

Re: Character Introductions

As you all have probably guessed, Silenus is all about the Herbam and the Aquam.

There are no others that qualify as "third and fourth best"; below these two, there is a large group of similar values.

Re: Character Introductions

This all sounds good. Keep the info coming. Also, could people post their top three or four Arts? (Not the levels, just what they are.)

FYI,

Rob & I had some discussions about character concept and rules tie-ins. As a result, I am now convinced that Bonisagus is a better house for Silenus than Verditius.

So, that makes 1 Merinita and 3 Bonisagi as new additions Thesaurus Terrae.

More details will be coming, but you all will know before joining that the covenant was founded by a Bjornaer and Merenita, but is now inhabitted by 2 Bonisagi and a Tytalus. Remeber how I said I was thinking of running an all Bonisagus game? This could be close enough. Hee!

Why do I get the feeling that one creature with a Magic Might of 20-25 could destroy the whole covenant?...

Hee.
