Game Locale: Cave several miles east of the road, somewhere between the villages of Harper’s Gamble and Greenbriar
Kilkieran’s End
Investigating the lower complex reveals a temple to some unidentifiable evil deity. Within the temple the group finds a passage inscribed on the wall in some unknown tongue. Elsewhere in the complex, the party finds a yellowed piece of parchment on which is written a seemingly nonsensical note. A few believe a code lies therein…
The next morning our adevnturers set out for Harper’s Gamble, a small mixed-race village bordering the elven lands to the south. There they inquire to the whereabouts of Kilkieran Aubrey. None have seen him north of Greenbriar in many days. Frustrated and the trail growing cold, the group heads into the mystical elven forests to the south on their way to Greenbriar, the famous bard’s home and last known locale.
On the road south they encounter a beast named “Silvermane”, with the head of a wolf and the body of a lion. The animal is fluent in the common tongue and strikes up a conversation with the explorers. How strange are these sylvan creatures! The beast claims to have seen Kilkieran, and witnessed his very capture by a goblin clan that has been encroaching into the wood in recent weeks. Silvermane offers to show the party the location of the goblin encampment, but along the way is ambushed by a patrol of the foul humanoids. Lextry, the carriage driver, is nearly slain in the colossal scrum that ensued. No less than a dozen goblins are slain before the group thwarts their attack and sends the rest of their number fleeing.
As the trek continues, the party grows suspicious, but Silvermane implores them, “it’s just a bit further…” The next ambush comes at the hand (or claw?) of Silvermane herself, who is joined by her mate and cubs in a bid to make a tasty meal out of the party themselves! The mystical creatures are powerful, but are finally slain just as the last of the group’s resources are expended. The creatures’ lair yields the bard they seek…or rather, what is left of him. Only the bardic guild pin confirms the identity of the decomposing corpse.
Finally, Orrak bids the group a fond farewell, needing to attend to clan business back in Mountainhold. He vows to return once his matters are settled.
