[game pieces]

New to all of this, a bit overwhelmed.

()

Hi everybody.

Let me preface this post by saying that I have no clue if this is the proper forum or even the proper community for this thread. If I've strayed completely out of my element here feel free to let me know.

I'm a regular gamer and appreciative of fantasy literature.

About 8 years ago now I dabbled with AD&D 2ed and Warhammer Fantasy as Empire to a very minor degree. Back then I was young, jobless, car-less and didn't have much say regarding what I did with my time. No money and no transport made getting into these expensive games a challenging task. Coupled with the fact that my peers were in the same situation, and I could never really get anything going. Just the same that seed was planted way back when and for whatever reason my interest has been growing lately.

I've gone over this site but suffice it to say, it is beyond me. Ideally, what I'd like to do is take another look at the current evolutions of both AD&D and Warhammer. These are 3.5ed and the new Fantasy or perhaps even 40k codexs I think. If my memory hasn't idolized these games so much that I find the reality less enjoyable I'd be sincerely interested in entering into some form of regular play schedule with folks who would be understanding of my "newness".

Thanks, in advance, for you assistance. As I said, I'm having a difficult time following this site; most of the games I've never heard of and what I do recognize I'm afraid I don't understand.

Quick note, I'm 23, would prefer to play with people generally around my age or older.

Hello

Well, the SWA is sort of your jack of all trades gaming organization. And yes your in the right place. The SWA runs a monthly game a thon almost every month of the year. At these game a thons you will find a variety of games. Typically board games and the like as well as mini games (mostly histrical, WWII etc.) and even D&D among other RPGS. We also have a big convention every fall called Council of Five Nations. There you can find all sorts of gaming, pretty much everything to meet your needs.

As far as Warhammer fantasy, & 40K... there arent a whole lot of people in the SWA that play constantly that I know of.
But there are groups that meet semi-regularly (so I am told) at both Zombie Planet & Flights of Fantasy.

I am always interested in playing a game of 40K. so If you get back into it let me know.

You should stop by the next game-a-thon, and see whats going on.

Take it easy
